Wedding Video Post-Production Coordinator Breakdown
As the post-production coordinator, your role is to prepare the project file and build out all the sequences for the editor to use in the final edit. This involves meticulously reviewing every clip to ensure no moment is missed. Each step is accompanied by tutorial videos to guide you through the proper setup of the project file.
Step 1.
Prepare Wedding Video Project File
-
Download Project File Template
-
Rename Accordingly "20240305Groomslastname"
-
Drop all cards in the folder labeled Footage
-
Open Sequences
-
Sequences should consist of 20 different Sequences that are 3840x2160 at 23.98fps:
-
You are not responsible for Trailer or Sizzle
-
You are not responsible for fixing exposure or color grading
-
Open all the sequences so they are tabs on your work space
Step 2.
Identify Wedding Video Footage
-
Open Footage
-
You should see Cards 1-10 with 3 audio folders and a drone folder (Some of them may be empty, that’s ok)
-
Start with Card 1 and clip all “usable” shots
-
Be sure to sort by label so you start numerically
-
Cards are not in chronological order
Step 3.
Sort Wedding Video Footage
-
Grab the approximate “in and out point” of each usable shot from each clip
-
Place each clip in it’s relevant sequence
-
For all sequences with multiple angles do the following:
-
Each “Angle” should be on it’s own layer
-
Move the DJ audio into the sequence
-
“Sound-Sync” all audio and angles
-
Mute unneeded audio
-
Leave best sounding camera audio live
-
Leave DJ audio live
-
Make cuts between all cameras to tell the story of the moment
-
Do not delete clips, just enable
-
Step 4.
Build Sequences
-
Step 1
-
Divide this into three sections
-
-
Getting Ready
-
Ceremony
-
Reception
-
Step 2
-
This includes all details such as family heirlooms, the dress, earrings, jewelry, flowers, guestbook, cake, dessert table, tie, bow tie, flat lay, watch, bouquet, flowers at the altar, welcome sign, and anything else that looks "special" or was purposefully placed and captured by the videographer.
-
Step 5.
Finalize Wedding Video Project File
-
All clips should be sorted into a sequence
-
All sequences must now be real-time multi-angle timelines with synchronized sound and cuts. The editor should be able to render and view a real-time video of that moment. Make sure they are all 3840x2160 at 23.98 fps
-
These multi-camera sequences should look extremely polished. Make sure they tell the story of the moment, with well placed cuts.
-
The couple is going to receive all of these moments so your work should reflect a professional standard
-
Save Project file and upload
-
Send file link to Editor
